Reiki – A New Part of My Journey ✨

Over the past few months, I have been quietly developing my Reiki practice and learning more about the gentle and calming benefits it can offer. Reiki is something I have felt drawn to for a long time, and it has become a really positive addition to my spiritual and wellbeing journey.

Emma Reiki photo For me, Reiki is about creating space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself. Life can feel incredibly busy, overwhelming and emotionally draining at times, and I believe it is important that we allow ourselves moments of calm and rest without guilt.

I recently had the opportunity to offer Reiki at a wellbeing event, and it was such a lovely experience. It was wonderful to see people taking time out for themselves and being open to trying something new. Some people were completely new to Reiki, while others had experienced it before, but the atmosphere throughout the day felt calm, supportive and uplifting.

One of the things I love most about Reiki is how gentle it feels. There is no pressure or expectation — simply time to relax, feel supported and experience a sense of peace and balance. Many people describe feeling calmer, lighter or more settled afterwards, and it is always lovely to hear how people have experienced the session in their own individual way. I know that spiritual and wellbeing work can sometimes feel unfamiliar to people, but my approach is always gentle, friendly and down to earth. I want people to feel comfortable, safe and able to simply be themselves.

I am really looking forward to continuing this journey, developing my Reiki work further and sharing it with others along the way. ✨

My Voice

Emma Smiling I have previously been told that my voice is my greatest tool, which is part of the reason that I wished to develop my mediumship abilities. Before devoting more time to this pathway I have previously studied Counselling level 3 which is in a similar realm to mediumship, as its about communicating with the general public with the aim of helping and empowering people in a positive way.

My Voice MottoI also believe that part of my curiosity and willingness to learn about this aspect of life comes from the fact that my senses appear to be heightened and often compensate for my lack of physical mobility. It is often a running joke that my hearing and sense of smell could win me lots of prizes however my walking ability would only result in the booby prize!!!

My first experience of work was working within a Care home as part of the activities team providing stimulation and entertainment as well as companionship for the elderly. During this experience it taught me several different lessons, one being that we all have a completely different belief system even if we are brought up in the same generation and environment.
I have also previously worked in the accounts department for an organization called Mencap which helps to support individuals with learning disabilities. This was also a worth while but entertaining experience as I am not well known for my maths expertise. I met some lovely people but it must have been divine intervention as to how I ended up in an accounts department!!

The reason I got into mediumship was because of a very special lady who helped me to reach my full potential in college. After this I attended her fortnightly development group and decided that I wanted to be an open book and explore this further. In all fairness I have always been willing to try new experiences and am open to new possibilities. This has stood me in good stead during life as due to physical limitations I have had to find different ways of operating within a standard society.

From my perspective - Oh to come from Britain!

Emma Portrait Recently, we went on holiday. It was incredible and spectacular in every way. My reflection is that coming from Britain is really quite incredible! Before anyone else says we have a long way to go. I'm all too aware and fully agree, however whenever you feel like giving up, please consider this.

It might rain a lot and there might not always be a ramp where you need it, but at least in the majority of shop we can access them without needing somebody with a weightlifting trophy, due to the number of steps!

The places are beautiful please don't get me wrong!

There is also uproar when accessibility is not considered often! And often it is people without disabilities that feel the injustice.

It also came to my awareness that the majority of people are extremely kind especially due to the fact they are on holiday, so it is their time as well! Like the man who offered to give mum a hand to get me down the gangway, so that I could explore these incredible places without breaking mum's back. May I point out before I go any further that there were two incredible people who were there to do exactly this job and they were great at it. It was just very kind of a complete stranger to offer!

It is also incredible that nobody seems to bat eyelid when I start doing some very unique dancing. I mean, I'm not going to win any competitions, but it was great and it was accepted and nobody even noticed I don't think! I know this issue isn't a big thing but I'm pretty sure that it's something to be grateful for!

It is also important to remember that in general terms within Britain we take the idea that we can go and view our favourite sports or do our activities without too much concern and sometimes it is refreshing to realise how this is the case.

Emma at Football Match I can't imagine what would happen if my favourite football team said you can't possibly sit there because the chair isn't safe and you could potentially get hit hard by the football or even worse you can't even access the stand because there aren't any reasonable adjustments in place, so it's stairs all the way!

This said it still makes it an amazing place to visit, if you go somewhere with an amazing football stadium in a different country like Barcelona, however I couldn't go without being on a special organised trip because it wouldn't be possible on a safety level or on a practical level!

It was still an incredible place to visit and breathtaking, if you're into football. When we winge about our perspective teams or England as a whole, please remember that we don't have to worry about not being able to view the match even if the result is not exactly what we prayed for!

I guess what I'm saying in short is that although there is a long way to go and the majority of these places are incredible, going somewhere different highlights how amazing where you live can be.

Don't get me wrong I like to think I'm grateful but I'm only human and we all take things for granted on occasion. You end up coming home sad that the amazing trip is over, but incredibly grateful for what you can do when you return home!
